Endorphins =)

I have been on the biggest endorphin rush this past 24hrs, seriously i feel AMAZING! My decision to get back into runnning again has put me into such a positive frame of mind i am floating on clouds lol

I know i said yesterday that my first 5km goal would be to get under the 30min mark.... well i smashed that out of the window in my first run- 26min 19sec! Then i took off another 20secs this arvo - 25min 59sec! Can i get a WOOT!?

The running is really helping to clear my mind and flush out all the negativity. I love that burning feeling in my legs as i challenge myself to go faster. I love it when my mind enters 'the zone' where nothing else in the world matters. I believe 'the zone' is like a meditative state because it is there that i feel free and INVINCIBLE.

Well done that is soo quick!oh i love that feeling! i miss running, my nutritionist wont let me run because when your heart rate elevates to a certain level you begin to burn muscle not fat and as we all know muscle raises your RMR which burns more fat. So im a walking girl at the moment. I miss the endorphins dearly.

  2. Thanks Laree! Isn't running awesome?!... I have to disagree with your nutritionist (I have a nutrition science degree too) the studies have shown that at higher heart rates you will predominantly use carbs/glycogen stores for fuel and at lower heart rates the body will use more fat stores. HOWEVER, unless you are doing marathon/triathalon type training and NOT supporting your body with the right nutrients (gels, electrolytes etc whilst training and balanced eating) there is no way that you will burn muscle for fuel. Even during a 24/48/72hr fast, the body wont even use its muscle stores for energy either - only carbs and fat!!.. Just some food for thought: look at the physiques of olympic sprinters/middle distance runners (400m, 800m) - they do a LOT of high intensity training/running at MAX heart rates and are some of the leanest athletes around with a lot of muscle mass too (besides bodybuilders)... SO IMO, i believe that a few runs here and there won't burn off any hard earnt muscle tissue you have built ;-)
